Estimación de la diferencia entre los diámetros mesiodistales de incisivos y molares deciduos con sus sucedáneos permanentes

dc.descriptionObjetivo: Determinar la diferencia del tamaño entre los dientes deciduos y permanentes tanto en la zona anterior y posterior en un grupo de escolares de Medellín. Materiales y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo longitudinal prospectivo en 139 modelo de escolares de la ciudad de Medellín; clase I esquelética seguidos longitudinalmente cada año desde los 6 hasta los 12 años de edad. De los 139 modelos con los criterios de inclusión se trabajaron con 53, 35 pertenecían niñas y 18 a niños que presentaran el primer modelo en dentición decidua completa y el último con dentición permanente completa; en los cuales se determinó el espacio de leeway y pasivo incisivo. Resultados: Se encontró un espacio de leeway positivo inferior (3.622 mm) mayor que el superior (1.556 mm); mientras el pasivo incisivo fue negativamente mayor en el superior (-7.884 mm) que el inferior (-5.38 6mm). En seis pacientes el espacio de leeway fue negativo entre -1.582 a -3.184 mm para el arco inferior y superior respectivamente. No se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre sexos, sin embargo las niñas presentaron un espacio de leeway y pasivo incisivo ligeramente mayores. Conclusiones: Las medidas normales para un grupo étnico no deben ser consideradas normales para otro grupo y cada uno debe ser tratado acuerdo a sus propias características.es
