dc.descriptionThis book covers a series of investigations that promote reflections on two themes in general: the framework of regional integration in the 21st century and the present and future situations of Latin American and European integration. The topics analyzed in the first part include a wide range of nuances regarding the regional integration process, both from the perspective of your current situation and from proposals that aim to channel your future. The analysis of the characteristics and implications of free trade agreements highlights the existence of ideological positions, which hinder the academic debate on regional integration and the same integration process since that time and efforts could be better used to analyze, reflect and build viable proposals and recommendations. In the second part, we find a historical, current and prospective review of the relations be-tween Mercosur and the European Union. Both the general framework of the first section and the specific situations of the second show the richness and variety of interpretations currently produced on regional integration. We consider the participation of academics from different fields, disciplines and different national experiences to be positive. To those of Argentina, Brazil, El Salvador, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela, two of the EU are added, while in the disciplines they represent we find political science, economics, history, international relations, and sociology.en-US
dc.descriptionEste libro abarca una serie de investigaciones que promueven reflexiones sobre dos temas en general: el marco de la integración regional en el siglo XXI y las situaciones pre-sentes y futuras de la integración latinoamericana y europea. Los temas que se analizan en la primera parte incluyen una amplia gama de matices con respecto al proceso de in-tegración regional, tanto desde la perspectiva de su situación actual, como de proposicio-nes que apuntan a canalizar su futuro. El análisis de las características y las implicaciones de los tratados de libre comercio destaca la existencia de posiciones ideologizadas, que entorpecen el debate académico sobre la integración regional y el mismo proceso de integración, ya que ese tiempo y esfuerzos podrían emplearse mejor en analizar, reflexio-nar y construir propuestas y recomendaciones viables. En la segunda parte encontramos una revisión histórica, actual y prospectiva de las relaciones entre el Mercosur y la Unión Europea. Tanto el marco general de la primera sección como las situaciones concretas de la segunda muestran la riqueza y la variedad de las interpretaciones que se producen en la actualidad sobre la integración regional. Consideramos positiva la participación de académicos provenientes de distintos campos, disciplinas y distintas experiencias nacio-nales. A los de Argentina, Brasil, El Salvador, México, Uruguay y Venezuela, se agregan dos de la UE, mientras en las disciplinas que representan encontramos la ciencia política, la economía, la historia, las relaciones internacionales y la sociología.es-ES
