Resumen
The pandemic caused by the spread of the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus (COVID-19) that humanity is currently facing has increased the number of cases of people of all ages experiencing anxiety related to this problem. Based on this observation, the present project is developed, the purpose of which is to investigate the anxiety presented by children between the ages of 6 and 11 who are part of the community of commune 8 of the municipality of Floridablanca (Santander) in the course of the phases of the current pandemic caused by COVID-19. The study has been developed under a descriptive quantitative approach, following the random probability sampling technique for the selection of a sample made up of 100 children in which the symptoms of anxiety present were studied through the application of the Scale of Spence Children's Anxiety Scale (SCAS for its acronym in English: Spence Children's Anxiety Scale), an instrument focused on measuring the symptoms of anxiety present in the general child population in the diagnostic scale: separation anxiety, panic attack, social phobia, disorder obsessive-compulsive and generalized anxiety. The application of the Spence instrument resulted in a significant index in the separation anxiety item and high percentages were recorded in the other items measured, which indicates that the population presents recurrent anxiety symptoms. Considering the presence of anxiety in the sample, a guide was developed focused on identifying, responding to and reducing anxiety in the child population.
