Standard operating procedures of a product or service is part of quality management system and provides confidence not only to the organization, but also to its clients, to get the results that contain the requirements in a consistent manner and a frame of reference for continuous improvement. In the development of the modality of graduation project a follow-up of the activities carried out in the Clinical Laboratory Department of the Kanicat Veterinary Clinic was carried out, where the processing of the samples starts from the acceptance or rejection of trials, and finishes with the report of results, conservation of samples and waste management in their respective waste routes. As a result, it was obtained the Manual of Sample Processing Protocols where the biosafety standards were established, laboratories to be submitted were standardized, and each of the activities carried out in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases was documented in detail; additionally, the diagnostic characteristics of the possible results of the analytical tests were described. The obtained documentation allows to approach the Clinical Laboratory Department to control its internal management processes in a way that facilitates the performance of daily tasks, minimizes risks due to exposures to biological and chemical agents, mitigates errors in the execution of analytical procedures, prolongs the useful life of the equipment, and therefore prevents economic losses when performing the proper handling in the conservation of reagents.
