Resumen
Key words: Work-related stress and its worst outcome, the syndrome of "being burned" (Burn-out) is common in health professionals and one of its most serious consequences is to generate a dehumanized treatment towards patients and their families. For this reason, from the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, an educational intervention program was carried out in 2017 with professionals who work with patients in outpatient and emergency departments. Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of this intervention one year after its implementation. Methodology: We worked with participatory action research methodology. The information was obtained through participant observation, semi-structured interviews and the application of the Maslach scale. Results: The intervention was highly valued by the participants who recognized favorable changes in their relationship with their colleagues, patients and family members, improving their coping strategies and self-control of stress. However, problems in working conditions that have not improved, have caused an increase in the impact on personal fulfillment. Conclusions / Recommendations: The intervention focused on improving coping strategies, social skills and self-control can have a buffer effect of work stress, but working conditions should be improved.
