The family over the years companies have become a very famous type of organization, they represent large share in the national economy and are the foundation of much of the Colombian population. These companies have had to face various external and internal challenges, challenges relating to economic, technological and cultural changes occurring worldwide. However the challenges posed inside are often the most difficult to face, when working with family members is very difficult to separate the personal from the professional, this and the lack of a leader capable of guiding others so right in search of the goals of the company, it causes it can not generate a good organizational climate and therefore business success may prove to be impossible. This article aims to review on the status of family businesses today. For which the first part shows some generalities of leadership and organizational climate; in the second part the situation of family businesses at a general level and finally presents an analysis of the case study of a company called Transbil S.A.S. Araucaria is performed
