Resumen
This work aims to show the importance of the bull in cases of infertility within a herd, for which a review was made in different scientific journals that show pathologies that lead to an inadequate reproductive performance in the bovine male. Within these factors of subfertility or infertility we find diverse causes such as age, environment, nutritional aspects, congenital, infectious, endocrine and iatrogenic abnormalities that affect the bulls and that are sometimes underdiagnosed, in addition to being poorly valued in our herds, but that are very important in productivity, therefore we can conclude that every day the bovine male has taken greater importance as a cause of the decrease in the reproductive parameters of a livestock. Therefore, veterinarians dedicated to the reproductive part of bovine males should increase their knowledge in a large number of conditions that can reduce or alter fertility, which is why the pathologies that cause infertility, as well as a good clinical examination, helps us to make decisions for the selection and acquisition of a bull.
