Resumen
It has been shown that the increase in days of interval between births is associated to multiple factors either due to poor diet or lack of management by farmers in their farms. The objective of this study was to carry out a detailed bibliographic review on the use of Restricted Breastfeeding (AR) as a management alternative for the reduction of interval between births in the bovine production systems in the different productions, which consisted in finding alternatives for reduce anestrus and increase productivity in the different herds. Other application methods of A.R are described, with new diets, handling of calves with other restrictions, and with the help of hormonal drugs. It can be concluded that diet, body condition, and breastfeeding are factors that influence the presentation of anestrus. There are efficient methodologies and / or techniques to reduce the effect of breastfeeding with supplementation of high protein diets and high quality pastures, which provide a benefit both to the mother and the daily gain of weight of the calf. In some cited works, a positive effect was not found in the application of restricted breastfeeding, where the results obtained do not represent an adequate sample to apply this method in livestock farms.
