Resumen
Objectives: To establish the importance of microalbuminuria as a prognostic factor for renal damage in diabetic and hypertensive patients living in the south of Barranquilla. Materials and methods: a retrospective cross-sectional study through a database for the analysis of the result of microalbuminuria levels in a group of patients diagnosed with hypertension and diabetes. The participants were chosen from a hypertension control program of the subsidized regime, in ages between 45-80 years. Using a confidence interval of 95%, the sample was of 349 hypertensive and diabetic patients who underwent the tests microalbuminuria, during the period January -June 2017. Using the random urine laboratory technique and its analysis through correlation of Spearman using the SPSS 20 system. Result: We analyzed 349 patients whose average age was 63 years, 73.6% were women, diabetes predominated in 58.7%, with a Spearman correlation of +0.15 for diabetics and -0.15 for hypertensive patients and a risk estimate of 1, 193 for diabetics and 0.838 for hypertensive patients. Conclusions: that micro albuminuria is a prognostic factor for increased renal damage in patients with diabetes than in hypertensive patients who presented a lower risk estimate. This analysis can be used as a reference from public health surveillance and to monitor the effect as pathology and risk management.
