Resumen
Introduction: The problems of inhibitory control are frequent in the elderly. There are evidences that state that during aging the inhibitory processes that regulate the attention that is stored in the memory diminish, which in turn has consequences on a wide range of cognitive processes affecting the well-being and quality of life of the elderly. Objectives and Methodology: The objective of this systematic analysis is to review the existing literature on everything related to cognitive inhibition in older adults. The methodology of the systematic review is of a qualitative nature. In total, 45 potentially eligible documents were reviewed. In the search of electronic data (Redalyc, Medline, Scielo and Psicodoc) about cognitive inhibition, between the periods 2010 until the year 2017, likewise, the studies had to be in Spanish. Results: Spain and Colombia: higher percentage of studies related to disorders derived from aging and cognitive inhibition. Regarding the types of applied research, it was determined that according to the deepening level, 72% of the studies were of a descriptive type, however, depending on the degree of manipulation of the variables, 36% is related to experimental studies. In the documents reviewed, instruments were also used for the collection of information, of which the Mini Mental scale was used, followed by the Barthel test and the Stroop scale was also applied, with which it measures the capacity for cognitive inhibition. . As for the least used instrument, there is aquatic training, which consists of activities within the water to activate the sensory senses of the elderly. Conclusions: Research shows that several biological and morphological changes occur during old age, such as decreased memory, deficit in motor skills, slowing down processing speed, and other shortcomings that are accompanied by cognitive inhibition.
