Resumen
This business plan is the continuation of the document "Identification of the best business model for the export of Colombian green coffee to Toronto-Canada" (Ramos, 2018) where the problems that the sector is going through were identified and a proposal was made to generate a change To talk about the sector, we will briefly review some specific points: During the coffee year 2016-2017, world production reached 156.2 million bags against a demand of 157.3 million bags, which together with an average TRM of USD 3,055 generated quite high profits. However, during the year 2017-2018 production reached a cap of just over 159 million bags, this situation caused the price to fall to $ 1.25 / Pound, which was mainly due to the fact that in previous years countries such as Brazil had not reached its maximum production limit and this year they reached it, which generated an abundant supply of the product which caused a drop in international prices and put the market in difficulties, in Colombia the coffee sector is composed mainly of 22 departments that during the year 2017 reached a production of 14.2 million bags with a value of 7.6 billion pesos, about 2596 million dollars, of this amount of bags were exported 13.1 million Colombian coffee is in great demand in the world because it has some key factors at a competitive level such as the climate and the land where it is grown, production of special varieties, the high quality stamps that have been awarded to the national coffee, the logistic capacity of the country that allows to take the coffee to the destination where it is requested, as regulation the Colombian laws have a wide regulation to control the coffee sector, all this at the head of the National Federation of Coffee Growers that is in charge of monitoring control and regulate the whole standard, coffee is exported under tariff heading 0901.21.10.00, additionally entities such as DIAN, ICA, INVIMA also implement controls and regulate shipments with foreign destinations so that the coffee that is exported always meets the requirements high quality and phyto sanitary products that are required in international markets, as mentioned in the document of the car r Daniel Ramos the coffee sector has different problems that do not allow it to operate properly, the number of intermediaries through which coffee must pass before reaching the final customer, the few market opportunities that coffee growers have, the low utility per load that These receive and in some cases the scams of those who are victims by the purchases. The starting point for this business plan will be the Municipality of Timaná which is located south of the Huila department, with a height between 1000 and 3000 meters above sea level, a temperature ranging from 11 to 24 ° C is the perfect climate for the cultivation of special coffee varieties, currently has a population of 23000 inhabitants distributed in 34 lanes and in its urban part, its economy is based mainly on agriculture and livestock for this purpose has 19600 hectares of which 2850 are coffee crops that reach an annual production of 4275 tons worth 11970 million pesos, this municipality currently 2 cooperatives of coffee growers and 10 purchases that are responsible for buying all the coffee produced by the municipality, however There is no company or project that allows adding value to coffee, for this reason coffee growers are forced to sell their product at the lowest price. From the market, our project proposes to create a coffee threshing and marketing company in which coffee growers can add value to their product and we can sell it to Canada, to achieve this we will need a warehouse, machinery and logistics that will allow to take the coffee to the port of Buenaventura from where it will go to Canada or any other destination, for this a process has been defined that consists of collecting the coffee in a collection center located in the urban area of Timaná, then the coffee will be submitted to tests that will determine its quality, will be classified, packed and stored, a marketing process will be carried out and finally it will be exported. To achieve this, an investment of 255 million pesos is required, which can be appreciated in more detail in the financial study. Than the indicators that allowed to evaluate the viability of the project.
