Resumen
The role of the mediator in police matters is assumed from the perspective of the community policing model, which is adopted as a novel way of dealing with community conflicts by the police agent, establishing their role as mediators in society. This mediating function requires prior training, which empowers the agent with the necessary tools to address the conflict from mediation, urging him to put aside his active role in the administration of justice, by a role of listening and accompaniment. In Colombia the possibility of mediation is structured as an alternative arrangement of the conflict, however, Law 1801 of 2016 does not talk about the community policing model, ignoring the special character that police mediation acquires under that model.
