The philosophy of education reflects on the teaching-learning process that takes place in institutions from primary to higher education. In this case, the aim of this paper is to design a philosophical proposal to establish the relationship between competences and teaching in fifth grade students of San Pedro Claver School. The methodology of this research that was used was to specify the object of study, that is, an article that analyzes the educational phenomenon, to identify the causes and consequences of the reduction of philosophy to the tenth and eleventh grade. This allows tackling the problem from different authors, investigative works and reviewing the institutional educational project of the San Pedro Claver school. As a result of this investigation, it was discovered that the teaching of philosophy in Colombia has gone through a crisis from its beginnings to the present, due to the reductionist vision that the person has, the schools remain the same, the education agents continue maintaining traditional models and the Colombian State does not suit to provide a philosophical education. The method used in this work was the historical hermeneutic because it arises from the social problems that affect education, especially at the San Pedro Claver School.
