Resumen
General objective: Validate an instrument that was previously designed to measure knowledge, attitudes and practices about reading nutritional labels and its importance in oral health, for caregivers of children from 1 to 12 years of age. Methodology: This instrument was designed based on the scientific literature and the experience of a researcher in the area of dentistry and microbiology, and an expert in nutrition. It has 25 questions distributed in different sections between knowledge and application of sugar consumption, oral health, and nutritional labeling. A multistage sampling was carried out where 300 parents or caregivers of children between 1 and 12 years of age from the city of Villavicencio were randomly selected. The sample was distributed in 10 communes of Villavicencio, where a stratified sampling was applied. The reliability analysis of the test was performed using the Kuder Richardson coefficient. Results: In the pilot test, comments were received on questions 21 to 25, which were adjusted according to relevance and adapted to the Google Forms tool, to facilitate the application of the instrument. Regarding quantitative validation, the validity of the questions measured by the question-test correlation coefficient (biserial correlation) is 'Very Good' or 'Acceptable' in 80% of the questionnaire. In the questionnaire, there were 7 questions about knowledge, 3 about attitudes and 15 about practices, which were established according to the percentiles, at the low, medium and high level. Most of the participants in the present study had a medium level of knowledge (59.7%), attitudes (48%) and practices (52%). Conclusion: With this instrument it was possible to measure in parents or caregivers of children from 1 to 12 years of age, the knowledge, attitudes and practices about the importance of reading nutritional labeling and its importance in oral health.
