International trade has been one of the main activities that have concentrated the attention when mentioning the effects generated by 3D printing, as a technology in constant expansion and acceptance around the world. Due, among other things, to the fact that represents a new method of production, which makes available to individuals and large industries the possibility of creating and producing, both on a small and large scale, goods and services essential in business. In this sense, the present investigation aims to analyze the challenges that the incorporation of 3D printing brings to university professionals in international trade. For this, firstly, the origin and evolution of the 3D printing technology. Secondly, the uses given to 3D printing in international trade. And, finally, the challenges that 3D printing incorporated into international trade brings in the training of new professionals in the area.
