Resumen
Heartworm disease is an emerging parasitic disease of the zoonotic type that mainly affects canines, but also felines and is transmitted to man. The nematode requires the bite of a mosquito, which is the intermediate host for its larval stages and adult forms develop that cause lung and cardiac lesions that cause death in cats and dogs. The reservoir of the disease is the canine and it is a pathology of worldwide distribution, which requires study, so the objective of this work was to review the scientific literature on feline heartworm disease and its relationship with canines and man to which the PRISMA declaration guidelines (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta- Analyzes) were followed. The literature was searched in the year 2021 in the databases Pubmed, ScienceDirect, academic google, Scielo, Proquest and Springer link. Reviewing documents from research work, clinical case reports and degree work. The inclusion criteria for feline heartworm disease and its relationship with the canine and man were defined and that they were documents, scientific research papers, graduate studies and reports of clinical cases. 1280 documents were obtained, 63 of which were excluded because they were duplicates and 1203 that did not meet the inclusion criteria after reading; resulting in 13 selected articles.
