Identify the characteristics for the goat production system in municipality of San Miguel - Santander, Colombia in a social, technological, health, zootechnical and economic field. A sampling was carried out through a type of exploratory-descriptive research where 16 producers divided into 6 villages were included. The survey was established by 84 questions with 11 parameters, general characteristics, social, infrastructure, animal nutrition and feeding, population, reproduction, genetics, health, economy, and agribusiness, where the opinion of the producer was heard in which he gave his point of view. view about the established production system and the satisfaction I had with it. The data collected was analyzed using the Microsoft Office Excel® 2016 system, for quantitative variables a descriptive analysis was used. Results: 75% of the land is owned, with an average extension of the farm of 5.89 ha, 94.3% of the area is focused on goat production. The average age of the producer is 49.44 + - 16.5 years; with a focus on meat production with 87.5%. Mestizo breeds prevail with 68.8% whose grazing is done with transhumance with 50% and 93% of the producers do not carry out supplementation. The slaughter age is 8.38 + - 2.15 months with a weight of 12.81 + 1.8 kg. Conclusion: The absence in the implementation of the use of records in goat productions limits the evaluation of the productive parameters, and in turn does not allow to determine exactly what the production costs have been..
