Resumen
In the Colombian legal system, every person has the right to health, however, this right can be violated by omission, by action of a health provider or by misconduct by a doctor, which generates medical liability. Therefore, the doctor's actions must be prudent and diligent, and do everything indicated and appropriate in favor of the patient's well-being. Consequently, the objective of this socio-legal investigation is to determine the cases of medical liability in the municipality of Cartago, Valle, in the period between the years 2020-2021. For this, a mixed methodology was proposed, with a descriptive design and an experimental approach. The technique used for data collection was the structured interview, which was applied to four entities that provide health services, and the results were duly analyzed. In general, it was found that the cases of medical responsibility in the municipality are due to the failure of the service and that death is the causal injury that is considered most relevant. Attention is suggested by the administrative authorities to cargo, in order to address this problem in a timely manner.
