Resumen
INTRODUCTION: Pulpotomy is the removal of the affected cameral pulp, preserving the root pulp. Damage to the tooth and pulp structure is related to three causes. Tooth decay causing the loss of minerals from the tooth surface. Traumatic injuries, falls or accidents and iatrogenesis being the alteration of the oral health of the patient caused by the dentist. METHODOLOGY: A descriptive observational study was carried out, using a sample of 300 medical records of patients who presented pulpotomy treatment, the frequent causes and age and sex variables were identified, relating the information in the Excel database. RESULTS: the variable age and sex was related, where the male sex predominated with 64%, at 7 years, in the female sex there was an increase in pulpotomies with 62% at 6 years. Regarding the variables age and cause, the most frequent in its totality was caries in both sexes at 3 years, the cause of occlusal trauma presented a percentage of 17% at 4 years and finally iatrogenesis had a higher percentage at 6 years with 23%. CONCLUSION: Caries is the first cause associated with pulp treatment in early childhood according to our research. However, it is observed that iatrogenesis is finally the action that causes pulp treatment due to mechanical instrumentation in the presence of caries, generating pulp exposure, this being the most frequent associated cause.
