Resumen
For Colombia, the internationalization process is essential for the growth of the pig sector, what we want to achieve is the decrease in imports of pork and yes to promote exports so that world consumers can enjoy pork made in Colombia, although there are many challenges translated into necessity in order to seek new and better strategies in terms of health, quality, and productivity that improve the sustainability of the sector in our country. The production of pork in the country should grow annually at a rate of 6.2%, so that a person will be able to consume between 12 to 15 kg per year of pork, so it is important to highlight that the production of pork must be intensified in the country in order to reduce imports, since 2005 the growth of imports have been considerably representative in the Colombian market with a growth of up to 7 thousand tons per year and this could have been intensified by the treaties of free trade that has been signed over the years, thus favoring tariffs.
