Resumen
Fake news has always existed in society, but the emergence of social networks has facilitated its dissemination and social damage. The crisis generated by Covid-19 generates news every day that can be falsified and generate panic in the population and lead to error, from this situation the question arises: What is the behavior of the people of Ibiza in the face of false news of the covid-19 spread on social networks and what measures have been developed to counteract them? The theoretical foundation addresses what is related to the pandemic, social networks, and fake news. The study is descriptive, mixed approach, that is, both qualitative and quantitative, 384 surveys were applied to residents of the city of Ibagué as a sample of the population that corresponds to half a million inhabitants. Among the results, it is possible to detect those social networks where false news related to the covid-19 pandemic is spread, transfers are used to obtain information on the subject, with a certain counter production among the responses; and it is concluded that the main measure to counteract it does not come from the government or from the networks but from the civic culture and social responsibility that should characterize citizens.
