Resumen
In Colombia, watershed management aims to plan the sustainable use of natural resources, through the execution of programs and projects to conserve, preserve, protect or prevent their deterioration, also considering the conditions of: threats, vulnerability and environmental risks that may affect the basin, especially those associated with water resources; requiring knowledge of hydroclimatic and hydric regimes in the face of extreme events. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the body in charge of implementing the Plan for the Management of the Watershed of the Las Ceibas River Municipality of Neiva Department of Huila (Colombia), within the Program "Integrated Monitoring Network Hydrometeorological Alert and Alarm of the Las Ceibas River Basin-RIMAC ”; required the technical and scientific support of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia Sede Neiva, through the Group of Sociocultural and Environmental Studies and Research (GEISA) and the Seedbed of Studies and Research for the Development of Engineering (SEIDI), to advance the “ Hydrotopographic and morphometric study of the riverbed of the Las Ceibas River in the El Guayabo and San Bartolo bridge section for the modeling of the water behavior in extreme events as support to the RIMAC Municipality of Neiva- Department of Huila ”, carrying out the gathering of the base information for the hydraulic modeling of the Las Ceibas River and the San Bartolo Quebrada, making use of global positioning techniques and the Hydrologic Engineering Center - River Analysis System (HEC - RAS), to determine hydraulic and morphometric parameters, such as: The expense curve , the levels of the water sheet, the average velocity and the wet sections, among others, thus estimating the areas of flooding of the basin, before extreme flow events for return periods of 100, 250 and 500 years
