Resumen
The right to die with dignity is a complex, sensitive, and difficult issue to address in the critical and conservative Colombian society due to the different positions that the population has had regarding this right. For this reason, this research aimed to inform the people from Bucaramanga regarding the concepts of the right to life, human dignity, a good death and euthanasia. Therefore, a quantitative analysis of the perspective on euthanasia in light of the right to life was carried out. It was conducted with 102 adult inhabitants of Bucaramanga. The data collection instrument was a virtual survey. The findings suggest that 84.3% considered the legalization of euthanasia to be right, however, only 79.4 % of the population would request it in case of suffering a terminal illness with excruciating pain. It is inferred that there is a 4.9% of people who are not against the legalization of Euthanasia, but neither do they agree to claim to benefit from it in the hypothetical case of suffering from a terminal illness. It can be highlighted that once euthanasia had been converted into law, the recognition of freedom to avail itself of it will be acknowledge in reasonable situations, as when life is overshadowed by intense suffering and unbearable pain caused by the terminal illness.
