Resumen
Swine production worldwide is one of the most important due to its high consumption, this is the second most consumed animal protein in the world, only behind poultry protein, due to its importance worldwide, it is essential to have better techniques of production that guarantee the continuous supply of this protein. To guarantee this continuous and constant production of pork, it is necessary to improve production techniques at a global level by implementing new technologies in each production and, indispensable, the use of good livestock practices. This is why the La Turena pig farm belonging to the community of Dominican sisters tries to implement and evaluate the application of good livestock practices within production, this evaluation was carried out during two phases: the initial analysis of the farm and the creation of lists of check-ups in which the level of compliance with these established standards can be measured and the creation of protocols that seek to standardize the processes that presented failures. After carrying out the evaluation of the production, it was obtained that the farm had 76% compliance in terms of what is required by good livestock practices, demonstrating, to complete 100% satisfaction, improvements were made to the physical plant of the farm such as the creation of a manual focused on the management of farrowing and pig health. As the main conclusion, it was found that the pig production of the farm La Turena complies with the standards of health, biosecurity, feeding, animal welfare, etc., required to be classified as a farm with good livestock practices.
