This research seeks to describe the current problems of Colombian university students in the face of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, Comprehensive Socio-Emotional Education Program, citizen and schools as territories of peace in its alert system reported last year that 27.86% of reports speak of death or suicide or even declare a desire to harm each other among colleagues, 26.20% show sudden difficulty in homework, 11.05% talk about feeling desperate or guilty, 10.55% have self-destructive behaviors such as alcohol use, illicit drug targeting or self-violation injuries such as cuts, if behavior is associated with hopelessness, as 9.58% suddenly changed their behaviour , 5.51% revealed feelings of depression, crying, sadness, loneliness, and other low-level percentages show signs of stress such as deteriorating motivation that previously allowed them to enjoy, commenting on their family environment, and fluctuations in daily habits associated with eating or sleep, (Infobae, 2021) before these eventualities the question of research is generated asking How does the COVID-19 pandemic enhance the number of cases of hopelessness, stress and suicide in Colombian university students?, to initiate the solution of initiating this research typified in a descriptive design based on the collection of information, by searching for review articles, studies and statistical theses against the global impact of coronavirus in Colombia. The results are recorded among the 7 documents included for psychometric analysis of the studies shows that 34.6% have high levels of stress due to the confinement of the pandemic in higher education institutes and 72.55% show that they have average levels of stress, these associated with the difficulty of connecting to virtual classes and experimental or laboratory courses , in addition to lack of sleep, high levels of work, lack of concentration, generating feelings of depression and sadness in almost students in the first and last semesters, 43.52% have symptomatologies associated with suicide intent such as self-esteem and self-confidence risk factors for suicide. Due to weightings, both education and higher education institutions and national government systems need to develop control, measurement and action measures against mental health in Colombian university students in more vulnerable socio-economic sectors.
