Resumen
Introduction: tooth extraction today represents one of the most frequent surgical procedures performed in Colombia according to ENSAB IV. Objective: to retrospectively analyze the indications and techniques applied to extractions during 2014 and 2019 at national level. Materials and Methods: a descriptive study was carried out by selecting databases such as: Dialnet, Sage Journal, Science Direct, Taylor and Francis, Springer Journal, Visibility and Virtual Health Library (BVS); using a matrix for the documents found with the inclusion criteria, considering variables such as indication for exodontia and method of surgery open method and/or closed method. Results: out of a total of 372 documents, only 20 were full text articles evaluated for their eligibility, when reviewing manuscripts and applying the inclusion criteria, giving a total of 5 studies included in this literature review. It was determined that the most frequent indication for exodontia is caries, followed by impaction, leaving aside periodontal disease as an indication. Regarding the techniques used, no article described the technique used. Conclusion: there is a lack of studies at national level related to the topic of indications and techniques for extractions.
