The objective of this research work was to design a didactic proposal based on the MICEA methodology, which allows strengthening environmental awareness in rural post-primary students of the educational institution El Ramo - El Lirio, in the municipality of Betulia (Santander). The didactic proposal stated in this work arises as a strategy to reinforce the environmental education that is promoted starting at school, from the strengthening of the environmental awareness of the students; likewise, it arises as a response to the environmental crisis that affects the planet and in particular, the village where the Educational Institution is located. For the development of the research, elements of the quantitative and qualitative paradigms were integrated, which gives it a mixed character. Likewise, according to the purpose it is applied, and according to the approach to knowledge it is socially critical, since the researcher has lived with the community and knows its socio-environmental reality. The data collection instruments used were a questionnaire with a Likert-type scale and a semi-structured interview to determine the level of multidimensional environmental awareness of the students. Regarding the results, the analysis of the numerical and qualitative data was carried out in order to characterize the global environmental awareness of the students, finding that according to the scale elaborated, it is at a medium-high level. On the other hand, with respect to the multidimensional análisis, it was found that the active dimensions present a medium-low level, while the affective, cognitive and conative dimensions are at a medium-high level. Based on this diagnosis, a didactic sequence was constructed based on the MICEA methodology, which will strengthen the different dimensions of environmental awareness proposed by Chuliá (1995).
