Resumen
Enteritis in foals is a disease of multifactorial etiology in which infectious agents such as clostridium spp. are involved. The objective of this work was to determine the clinical management and treatment of enteritis associated with clostridium spp. in foals. For the purposes of the research, we chose to make use of the documentary review. Some results found mention the role of antimicrobial therapy in the management of equine enteritis and colitis, which is controversial, since for many of these conditions the etiological agent is not definitively known or is not bacterial. In conclusion, there is still no objective information on the treatment of C. difficile enteritis. In general, it is treated similarly to any other disease with diarrhea with supportive therapy. If the diarrhea is associated with antimicrobial therapy, it may be sufficient to cease administration. Likewise, horses with severe colic are not widely investigated, which makes hemorrhagic enteritis or enterotoxemias go unnoticed.
