In the current legislative debate in Colombia, different positions arise about a reduction in working hours, in view of this scenario, the constant need for updating and information is offered. The objective of this research was to analyze the theoretical approaches about the consequences of the reduction of working hours and their implications in Colombia through a systematic literature review. The instrument used was the bibliographic file format offered by the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia. Forty references were consulted in the academic search engines Redalyc.com, Scielo.com and Dianlnet.com. As a result, it was observed that the implementation in Colombia of the initiative to reduce the working day would bring multiple benefits, contributions to the reduction of unemployment, the improvement in the quality of life and the health of workers, since it prevents diseases in the long term. term produced by stress and excessive hours of work, and contributes to the family-work relationship of each of the collaborators of the different organizations in the country. The research allows to conclude that the reduction of the working day as an exercise of flexibility in the organization has greater positive effects, and the negative effects would be the consequence of a bad implementation that does not take into account the needs of workers and employers.
