Resumen
Intoxication due to ingestion of plants in cattle, although they are of rare presentation since it is very selective when it comes to feeding, they must be treated urgently once the symptoms have been presented to try to maintain body homeostasis and preserve their life, the most common causes of intoxication occur in seasons of shortage of fodder where the animal is forced to ingest toxic plants that contain alkaloids, nitrates, oxalates and saponins or in the changes of climatic seasons when the grasses begin to regrow and their content of some toxins is high, the diagnosis of intoxication for any of the above described reasons are based on the clinical history, laboratory findings and more commonly in necropsy, since these cause sudden death in most cases. This bibliographic review aims to publicize the process of intoxication in cattle by ingestion of toxic plants.
