Resumen
The purpose of this paper is to analyze suicidal behavior in the adolescent population, taking into account risk factors and protective factors, since suicide as a behavior underlies as a social problem due to multiple causes. For this reason, in this literature we focus on the age group of adolescents, emotional disorders, family history, violence, social and economic conditions; each of these unfavorable causes, which are determining factors when committing a suicidal act, which is why the study of this behavior should take into account the risk and protective factors, and thus to better understand the possible problems associated with suicidal behavior in adolescents in the municipality of Arauca. Therefore, it should be understood that an individual risk factor is the trigger that urges to commit suicide. In young people, the most common risk factors are: depression, difficulties in emotional management, disenchantment, hopelessness and lack of meaning in life. On the other hand, there are protective factors against the risk of suicidal behavior, which are related to the ability to solve problems, optimism, coping strategies and different positive thoughts and attitudes.
