characterization was carried out on the population with disabilities in the Department of Huila in May 2015, with information from the Web Application of the Registry for the Location and Characterization of People with Disabilities (RLCPD), information system of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, which collects information updated on Persons with Disabilities in Colombia and whose information was accessed with the authorization of the Secretary of Departmental Health of Huila. The methodology was non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive; the target population corresponds to the totality of RLCPD records in Huila, with sociodemographic variables, types and origin of disability, and health conditions; Non-probabilistic convenience sampling was used, analyzed with the statistical software SPSS V22. The results showed that PwD in Huila the age range is between 22 to 74 years; they belong to strata 1 and 2 as a vulnerable and poor population, 43.1% are illiterate and 88.46% are unemployed; the highest type of disability is mobility with 40.88%; 40.55% do not know the cause of their disability; 79.58% require permanent assistance from others; the type of physiotherapy rehabilitation is more used with 20.21%; Pitalito and Neiva register the highest PwD in Huila
