Introduction: Cardiovascular surgery is a surgical alternative that aims to improve the quality of life of the patient, in this process the qualified nursing professional who provides comprehensive care is immersed, who through their interventions seeks to achieve an adequate recovery, approaching it as a biopsychosocial being. For this reason, it is important to identify and classify the nursing interventions in the perioperative period of cardiovascular surgery reported in the literature, since it favors the orientation and understanding of these interventions. Objective: Describe the nursing interventions in the care of the adult patient undergoing cardiovascular surgery reported in the scientific literature. Methodology: A literature review was carried out where information obtained from 40 journal articles found in electronic databases of the Cooperative University of Colombia was collected, classified and selected, referring to nursing interventions in adult patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery. Results: The review analysis identifies sociodemographic characteristics of the different studies, nursing interventions were identified and classified according to the Nursing Procedures Classification (NIC), and the most relevant results of the nursing care process were also stated. Discussion: The complications of these procedures appear in the postoperative period and the nursing interventions are focused on stabilizing the physical parameters and take into account the environment closest to the care subject. Key words: Cardiovascular surgical procedures, cardiovascular nursing, postoperative care, intensive care unit, efficacy-effectiveness evaluation of interventions.
