The research aims to implement experimentation as a methodological strategy for understanding concepts in natural sciences, for this a survey is applied that allows to know the perception of the students on experimentation, previous notions, and participation. Learning guides are developed based on the implementation of practices in the school or home garden and its impact on the understanding of different conceptions is valued by means a comparative evaluation that includes comprehension and interpretation questions in the two focused groups of eleventh grade of the IED Betulia, in which one of them receives theoretical classes while the other group carries out practical activities. The qualitative approach is used, with a descriptive-explanatory level and action-research design where the teacher is an active participant and brings the adolescent closer to her daily life. The work carried out by the students in the garden stands out because with praxis demonstrates the incidence of experimental processes in the application made by students is demonstrated in new problem situations, also generate effective meaningful learning processes. Therefore, the experimentation using the home or school garden becomes an effective methodology for students to build their own knowledge, through learning guides that make use of scientific methodology and that converge in the interaction of concepts, that seen in a theoretical way they transmute into shallow notions but that used in a way that leads to an experience of daily living, can positively favor the understanding of concepts.
