The World Health Organization (WHO) has established guidelines on hand washing as a fundamental and efficient procedure to prevent infections attributable to health care, this constitutes a cost-effective strategy to prevent diseases, however despite the Advancement in knowledge of human talent, tends to have low adherence in hospitals due to inadequate practice, frequently in health institutions the hand-washing procedure is performed continuously by nursing personnel, however, numerous barriers have been detected that make compliance difficult, among these barriers are those related to the lack of knowledge that the health professionals themselves have, the lack of motivation, the presence of an incorrect attitude, the belief in the low risk of not performing the technique, the poor accessibility products or skin irritation caused by them, the use of gloves and n instead of antisepsis, the lack of dispensers, the overload of care, the prioritization of patient care over antisepsis, the high cost of the electronic systems and videos necessary for the campaigns, the lack of role models, the lack of a culture of safety and the forgetfulness or ignorance of the existing recommendations has led the institutions to reconsider and consolidate the efforts in training, vigilance and motivation from the institution itself to promote hygiene and hand washing as a basic priority, Hand washing and sanitizing is one of the most cost-effective procedures to prevent infectious diseases derived from health care, improving patient safety and quality of service provision.
