Transformational leadership is one of the key components for the improvement and success of quality organizations. Based on the progress and contributions of the transcendental leadership models as the basis of successful contemporary organizations and in accordance with the most significant findings, the transformational leadership model is emphasized as an example of overcoming the limitations of other leadership models; who for the benefit of the organization abandoned their collaborators. What is formed through this transformational model is the creation of highly cohesive groups, thus improving governance in organizations, associated with a tetrarchy where everyone participates arduously for a common purpose, relating the virtues of different styles of leadership at the same time as eliminates its limitations, whose behaviors are oriented to the joint organizational work for an excellent group and individual performance. The objective of this review is to describe the characteristics of transformational leadership and its relevance as a success strategy in different organizational contexts, according to theoretical references that prove its effectiveness in the operation of business institutions.
