Resumen
Fifty-three years after the construction of the UsuAlfonso irrigation system project, near the Tatacoa Desert, this has generated a great change in the region, especially for the agriculture of the San Alfonso, La Victoria and Potosí villages of the municipality from Villavieja Huila. The irrigation district has its intake in the Cabrera river, it has a channel of more than 25 km in order to transport the most important resource for life and this is distributed throughout the townships of San Alfonso, La Victoria and Potosí, and other farms; which has made it possible to irrigate by gravity nearly 1800 hectares of various crops, including rice, banana, etc. Rice being the most cultivated. With a view to the continuous improvement and contribution of the great virtues of its students, the university decides to make an agreement with the UsoAlfonso irrigation district, in order to provide help with professional criteria and that they can seek viable solutions that benefit the community in general. For this, a critical analysis of the channel was carried out, to be more specific in Zone 3 of the channel, this being an uncoated channel in trapezoidal section, a design that allows the necessary slopes for its stability.
