Resumen
The purpose of this article is to determine the emotional states that prevail in institutionalized older adults, based on the bibliographic review of 50 references that include undergraduate theses, academic, scientific and reflective articles in which mixed studies were found, with inclusion criteria as year of publication, place of development of the investigation and description of the emotional state of the elderly. It is carried out based on a systemic approach paradigm, taking into account that most studies propose an evaluation from the family processes and dynamics in which older adults are immersed due to the family influence in the institutionalization process and the state emotional. The bibliographic review allows the construction of a methodological matrix and the analysis of instruments, by means of which it determines that the emotions and feelings that prevail in the institutionalized older adult are: sadness, fear, anger, shame, guilt, low self-esteem, helplessness and loneliness.
