Resumen
Introduction: physical activity in times of pandemic was fundamental in older adults, favoring the maintenance and care of physical condition. Objective: To characterize the type and media used by the older adult who was part of the Habits and Healthy Lifestyles program of INDERBU, Bucaramanga, to perform physical activity in times of pandemic. Methods: a questionnaire was applied to determine the method and medium for the practice of physical activity, with a sample of 145 older adults, of whom 139 were women and 6 men with an age ranging from 60 years onwards. Results: the results of the questionnaire obtained show that the medium most frequently used by older adults for the practice of physical activity in times of pandemic, was videos on the internet with a frequency of 57 that equals 39,4 per cent, followed by television with a frequency of 46, or 31.7 per cent. It is noted that, of the 145 participants, 131 adults were engaged in some type of physical activity with 90.3%, the type of activity that was most frequently performed was aerobic with 85 which is equivalent to 58.6%. Conclusions: It was concluded that the older population surveyed used videos more frequently online, as a means for the practice of physical activity during the pandemic, and the most practiced method for physical practice was aerobic. Consequently, it is suggested that the most frequent sports activity they performed was maintenance gymnastics, allowing them to be physically active during the quarantine period.
