Resumen
The feline coronavirus (FCoV) has two serotypes; feline enteric coronavirus (FECoV) and feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV); this is the cause of a lethal systemic disease, affecting domestic and wild animals worldwide, it is still unknown the exact time and place in the animal, where the enteric coronavirus changes to FIPV; during this process of change 5 to 10% may present the alteration, this leads us to question and learn more about the nature and development of the virus. Technological and genetic advances have been able to develop several diagnostic methods and treatments that have been effective in controlling the disease in infected cats and thus improving their quality of life, in order to perform an updated literature review of the important issues that encompasses the FIP.
