Resumen
Child abuse is a problem that historically has been studied in different ways and by different professions. This problem affects children from a very early age, generating short, medium and long term consequences. These consequences are not only physical but also psychological, affecting the development of basic and complex cognitive functions. Through a bibliographic review of 50 documents and the RAE technique (Specialized Analytical Summary), the different consequences of child abuse were determined in the cognitive functions of children between 3 and 17 years of age, the most affected being attention, memory , language, perception, intelligence, executive functions, creativity and emotion. In addition, the linking of resilience was evidenced as a process in which children who have been victims of some type of child abuse, can generate a process of acceptance leading them to improve their quality of life.
