Resumen
Information technology (IT) is an essential resource for achieving strategic business objectives. However, many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) do not consider IT as a strategic area, which limits their competitiveness in a globalized and dynamic world. This paper presents the perception and challenges of IT governance in Colombia among IT professionals working in the technology services, consulting/finance/banking, telecommunications, and industrial and business sectors. This allowed the design of an IT governance process for ACTSIS, which was defined with the purpose of guiding the decision making process, considering the roles and responsibilities, as well as the technological infrastructure, resources, objectives and information systems existing in the company. This process was socialized with officials of the IT area of ACTSIS to validate the relevance and clarity of the content, allowing to corroborate that the process can be used by the company to guide through the IT governance process the alignment of IT goals with the strategic goals of the company.
