Water is a fundamental element for human life, but it must meet certain necessary drinking conditions. For these conditions, the water must pass through the so-called aqueducts that are water transport systems in the form of a continuous fluid from the place of its collection (intake) to its point of consumption (population). A fundamental element in the system is the intake since this structure is intended to derive part or all of the flow that flows from a river, to irrigate an area under irrigation or to generate energy through its use of hydroelectric plants. The design of a lateral intake is a hydraulic structure for the laboratory of the cooperative university of Colombia, Villavicencio headquarters. This structure is carried out in order to improve pedagogical conditions and generate higher quality to the laboratory facilities. This generates that the classes are more complete because it shows graphically and directly the behavior of the structures under different conditions.
