Resumen
Social representations about the construction of adolescents' sexual identity in parents is a subject that can be investigated because currently, the different media provide limiting and stereotyped information, causing parents to have mixed feelings about how to deal with This situation, therefore, the objective of the present is to describe how social representations are configured based on the importance that parents give to the accompaniment of their children in the search for sexual identity in a group of adolescents aged between 14 and 16 years old who belong to the educational institution the immaculate Pereira headquarters, relying on Moscovici's theory of social representations and Erickson's sexual development. The information was collected through the open interview technique - unstructured and analyzed through a coaxial matrix, finding that the adaptation and acceptance processes by parents are influenced by the social representations that surround them, which it is reflected in the handling of the dialogue and the information that is handled in the face of this identity construction. Similarly, the focus of parents and children on new sexual trends generates a reflection on critical thinking when having to make a decision regarding sexuality, which makes it likely that both parties maintain physical and mental well-being.
