Resumen
Infections are a process in which an infectious agent invades and grows in a person's body followed by an infectious cycle. According to some authors, they state that contagions in health personnel occur due to an accident involving blood or contaminated material. Biosafety in dentistry comprises measures and provisions that aim to defend people's health, provide a safe workplace for the patient, for the dentist and healthcare personnel, against the risks produced by biological and chemical agents, physical. Dentists are exposed to a wide variety of microorganisms such as spores, bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa which can be in the blood and saliva of patients. These can cause an infectious disease, since it can start with a flu to pneumonia, hepatitis B, herpes, tuberculosis, HIV and COVID-19. The purpose of this project is to validate a survey of knowledge and practices in biosafety applied to students, professors and assistants in the dental clinic of the Cooperative University of Colombia Villavicencio campus. The cross-sectional descriptive research was able to determine the knowledge and practices, use and management of biosafety measures, through the biosafety survey validated by agreement between judges (Kendall's W), as p (0.0) is greater than 0.05, it is evidenced that the Ho is accepted, it is say 95% confidence The global average over 16 questions that obtained an average of 12.3 ± 1.7 for teachers, 11.2 ± 0.9 for assistants and 10.8 ± 1.3 for students, with a significantly better difference between teachers regarding to the assistants and students (p <0.05). It should be noted in conclusion that those who put knowledge into practice are the teachers; however, the qualifications are not outstanding since in the practices 30% of the teachers presented a medium level, 52.9% of students and in the same way 83.3% of assistants.
