This article is based on a documentary review purports to address the psychological characteristics of sexual offenders and abusers, difficulties in engaging in relationships with people and controlling their impulses. Therefore, the purpose is to determine whether there may be specific profiles on sexual offenders and abusers. It is also evident that in Colombia it is a public health problem that the whole of society has. Likewise, its methodology is qualitative of descriptive type to establish the psychological characteristics of sex offenders and abusers; find in 5 articles, 13 scientific journals, 3 newspapers in the country and 3 studies of experts working from the perspective of forensic and legal psychology; being a specific case that of Vicente José Garrido Genovés, who talks about the violent regarding sexual assault as a weapon of intimidation, in his book the psychology of violence, he expresses that there are multiple personalities in the person who acts violently towards his victim. These results indicate that, in most cases, the aggressor is usually male and that the way the aggressor acts may vary depending on his age, the characteristics of the victim, and situational and circumstantial factors. It can be concluded that the psychological characteristics of these subjects, it is evident that there is a deficient parental-filial link during the child stage with regard to this pathology, it can be highlighted the abuses, ill-treatment, family conflicts
