Resumen
The following document presents an overview of the situation of the Colombian agricultural sector, during the last ten years, taking as baseline the Global Competitiveness Report by the World Economic Forum, which is assessed using the General Index competitiveness (IGC), a set of quantitative and qualitative variables framed within 12 pillars that measure different factors that allow the economies to achieve sustained economic growth and long term prosperity. The importance of these pillars lies in the analysis of the results obtained in the variables that country, if so, this a tool for political and economic authorities allowing them to identify obstacles in macroeconomic, microeconomic and social terms to propose strategies to achieve the country's competitiveness and the inclusion of the population to achieve sustainable growth and development in time. This work was done by analyzing a set of literature from various authors who, based on solid theoretical foundations allow their theories and proposals involve analysis with the selected indicators, which correspond to the most representative of the pillars with available information at national.
