Resumen
Imaging is the science of medical imaging and deals with all normal and abnormal images of internal structures, tissues, and organs. The aim of this work is to review the basic principles of ultrasonography as well as describe its advantages in bovine reproduction since one of the fundamental pillars of the bovine livestock industry is the reproductive component, whose main objective is to obtain one brood per year to maintain a good production rate over time. In other words, no matter how much all-productive factors are improved (nutrition, genetics, management, health), if reproductive efficiency is low, final productivity tends to decrease. In accordance with this need, for more than 30 years, transrectal ultrasonography has become a useful tool in animal reproduction and has been valued as a tool for practical application in reproduction and medical diagnosis. Its use ranges from the clinical field to physiological studies, through numerous practical diagnostic applications in cattle.
