This project was developed with the objective of making a design proposal for the structure of the pavement between Calle 26 and 27 with Carrera III in the Claret neighborhood in the municipality of Ibagué in the Department of Tolima. Initially, a technical visit was made to the site of interest in order to evaluate the current conditions of the road, a tour was made to determine and carry out an initial projection of the preliminary activities to be taken into account in the planning of the project to be developed. To comply with the initially proposed objective, it was necessary to carry out an evaluation of the existing pavement. According to what was stated by the community of the sector, this road was paved several years ago, in addition the materials used were not the most appropriate, nor was there a design that would guarantee the stability and resistance of the road; During the inspection carried out, several pathologies could be identified, including chipping joints, cracking in the form of a map with predominant cracks, block cracks, subdivided slabs, subsidence, among others; Therefore, it can be established that this road has a high degree of deterioration, generating traffic difficulties for the vehicles that circulate daily in this area. In order to provide a solution for the inhabitants of the sector, two (2) design alternatives are projected for a flexible pavement that respond to the needs of the beneficiaries; based on the structural criteria according to the standards and methods to design; The methodologies used to carry out the design of the structure and tread layer are based on the methodology (AASTHO AND RATIONAL), where the description and subsequent comparison is made in each of the methods, in order to confront and compare the technical concepts and parameters used for the different types of design, thus determining the differences in which they are derived and which, when applied, may or may not develop results with respect to the behavior of the pavement structure.
