In the present study, a zoo demographic characterization of the canine and feline population of the rural sector, of the municipality of Floridablanca, was carried out through an estimation of the population, using as a tool a survey to collect the information through an interview with the inhabitants of the home, based on the methodology of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. A total of 315 surveys were conducted in which it was estimated that the pet / man ratio was 2.7: 1 canines per inhabitant and 4.9: 1 felines per inhabitant, for a total of 747 pets in the rural sector of the municipality. from Floridablanca. Similarly, it was determined that 73.3% of the houses have a dog and 47.9% have a cat. Of the estimated 481 canine population, 38% are female and 62% are male; of which 50.5% are of medium size and 29 canines of this population belong to potentially dangerous breeds. Of the estimated population of 266 felines, 47.7% are female and 52.3% are male; of which 74.4% are of medium size. This study was carried out in order to evaluate a direct intervention and control or regulate the populations of dogs and cats in this strata and in the communes of the municipality of Floridablanca. Knowledge of the quantitative aspects, sanitary characteristics and fertility indicators was essential. , mortality and migrations, which were defined with the application of surveys and will allow the municipality to adopt measures that are in accordance with the reality of said aspects and characteristics of these populations.
